TEHRAN (IQNA) – Bahrain's February 14 Youth Coalition, a major opposition group, called for rallies in the country to mark the 7th anniversary of the popular uprising.

According to al-Laulau website, a spokesman for the coalition said the Bahraini people, through their awareness, resistance and steadfastness have proved to the world that they will not abandon their legitimate demands, including the right to self-determination.

He underlined that the revolution, which began on February 14, 2011, continues with the same enthusiasm.

Other opposition groups have called for civil disobedience on February 14-15 to mark the start of the revolution.

Bahrain, a close ally of the US in the Persian Gulf, has been witnessing regular protests against the ruling Al Khalifa regime since February 2011, with security forces resorting to crackdown against demonstrators.

Scores of Bahrainis have been killed and hundreds of others injured and arrested in the protests.
