Nationwide Quran Contest Held in Turkey

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The final stage of a nationwide Quran competition in Turkey was held in the city of Kahramanmaras on Sunday.

 

The Department of Supervision of Quran Printing and Recitation, affiliated to the Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet), organized the event.

The participants competed in recitation of the Holy Quran, Anadolu Agency reported.

A number of imams (prayer leaders of mosques) and muezzins (reciters of Adhan or call to prayers) were among the contenders.

According to Osman Sahin, head of the department, 10 of the contestants from different provinces of the country had made it to the final stage.

At the end of the contest, Enes Kaput from Izmir was announced the top winner.

The runner-up was Fatih Dolen from Istanbul and Yahya Celik from Bursa came third.
