Grand Mufti of Damascus Killed in Terrorist Attack
TEHRAN (IQNA) – The grand Mufti of Damascus was killed in a car bombing on Thursday.
Mufti Mohammed Adnan Afiouni lost his life in a terrorist attack, the Syrian Awqaf Ministry announced on Thursday night, RT Arabic reported.
Terrorists had planted a bomb in the senior cleric’s car, the ministry added.
It described Sheikh Afiouni as one of the great clerics of Syria and Muslim world.
The explosion took place in the town of Qudsaya, west of the capital of Damascus.
It was not known who planted the bomb and no group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
