TEHRAN (IQNA) – The spokesman of Iraq’s al-Nujaba resistance movement described return to pure Islam as one of the major messages of Iran’s Islamic Revolution.

“Perhaps one of the most important messages of the Islamic Revolution can be described as the return to the original Muhammadan Islam. In the manner of Imam al-Hussein (AS) who is not under the burden of humiliation and does not surrender to any arrogant and tyrannical force,” Nasr al-Shammari said in an interview with IQNA on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of the revolution’s victory.

“This revolution describes standing by the right as a great value with unpredictable results and this is quite evident in the attacks on the Islamic Republic and the sanctions that have been in place for four decades,” he added.

Q: The Islamic Revolution of Iran has affected the Shia political discourse in all Islamic countries, one of the most important of which is Iraq, with a majority Shia population and bordering Iran. Also the period of Imam Khomeini’s exile caused profound changes in this country in such a way that the Islamic Seminary of Najaf was transformed. Later, people like the martyrs Sayyid Muhammad-Baqir al-Sadr and Sayyid Muhammad-Baqir al-Hakim were able to play a major role in Iraq by following him. How has the Islamic Revolution of Iran affected the Shia political discourse in Iraq?

A: Before the Islamic Revolution in Iran, there was no clear political discourse for Shias in Iraq but rather most Iraqi youths tended to follow Western liberal, communist or capitalist movements and parties. At that time, Islamic discourse was often in the cage of accusation and was always targeted and oppressed, while the Shia were not present in the government at all to be targeted for this purpose.

Before the Islamic Revolution of Iran, there was no active Shia movement to be mentioned, except for the experience of Martyr al-Sadr and the Islamic Da’wah Party, which was attacked and eradicated by the Ba’athist fascist regime backed by the West and East. Finally, the culmination of the atrocity of this attack was the execution of Martyr al-Sadr and his sister, as well as the issuance of the death sentence for the missionaries.

The intellectual transformation of the Shia movement took place when Martyr al-Sadr declared his support for Imam Khomeini’s Islamic Revolution and emphasized that he and his position of religious authority had melted into Wilayat al-Faqih [Guardianship of the Jurisprudent]. This caused thousands of young believers to follow the goals, slogans and tendencies of the Islamic Revolution and believe in its principles. This flame is still burning, so that no Islamic or jihadi activity in Iraq is without the foundations of the Islamic Revolution and its great leader and it can be said that the Islamic Revolution in Iran affected not only the Muslim and religious youth, but rather it affected all aspects of life, even communist and secular parties.

At that time, no meeting was empty of talking about the Islamic Revolution of Iran and its victory over the Persian Gulf gendarmerie, except after the great conspiracy of the arrogant powers to light the fire of the oppressive war against the people and the oppressive laws of the Ba’ath party, which sentenced the people to death simply for having a picture of Imam Khomeini.

Q: With the theoretical foundations of its revolutionary discourse, what role did the Islamic Revolution of Iran play in confronting the Takfiri-Wahhabi groups, such as al-Qaeda and Daesh?

A: Before talking about the Islamic Revolution, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic and his government, we must take a hypothetical look at the absence of the Islamic Revolution and the Islamic Republic and see what would have happened in the region and Islamic countries in general, despite the continuation of this Wahhabi and Takfiri invasion, if it were not for the Islamic Republic.

It is very clear that other Wahhabi regimes were formed in most of the countries of the region, which engaged in killing, takfir (excommunication), captivity, and the establishment of slave markets against the general Muslim nation. Israel and the United States, on the other hand, enjoyed security and peace because they were the driving force behind these extremist groups.

Therefore, the existence of this revolution, the spiritual grace of its founder and also the courage and wisdom of its Supreme Leader are from the grace of God, and if this blessed excellence did not exist, the whole region would not be able to face this Takfiri movement. There is no clearer example of confronting the Daesh terrorist group and the unlimited support that the Islamic Republic provided to Iraq with weapons, military advisers and other needs, and Iran’s support had a major impact on supporting the fatwa issued by the religious authority against Daesh and defeating it in a short time, such that few people predicted it.

Q: In your opinion, what is the impact of the discourse of the Islamic Revolution and the political thought of Imam Khomeini on the Islamic Resistance Axis against the arrogant powers and the occupying regime? How do you assess the future of the Islamic Resistance?

A: Before the Islamic Revolution, no movement, movement, group or government spoke of confrontation with Israel and the United States unless this discourse was accused of superficiality and illusion. At that time, the activities of the Islamic Resistance were limited to limited operations such as individual martyrdom operations or intifadas with stones, and the Zionist regime was talking about the possibility of occupying Lebanon with its army band!

The existence of the Islamic Republic, the discourse of the Islamic Resistance created by the late Imam, and the generation of Islamic Resistance that was nurtured by this discourse, were able to defeat Israel and liberate Lebanon shortly after the revolution and the claim of the invincibility of the army. This means that the Islamic Resistance moved from a state of defense to a state of aggression and deterrence, and then reached the stage of equal military warfare. Like what happened in the 33-Day War or what the Iraqi Islamic Resistance achieved by defeating the American occupiers and expelling them from Iraq within eight years.

The United States, meanwhile, had the largest occupying force in Iraq in the modern era, at a time when large and wealthy countries such as Germany and Japan were unable to close American bases on their soil. In the contemporary period, the United States, and even Israel, were not defeated by any power except by the Islamic Resistance current established by the school of Imam Khomeini.

Q: In your opinion, what is the most important message of the Islamic Revolution and what is the current position of Muslims towards this message?

A: Perhaps one of the most important messages of the Islamic Revolution can be described as the return to the original Muhammadan Islam. In the manner of Imam al-Hussein (AS) who is not under the burden of humiliation and does not surrender to any arrogant and tyrannical force. This revolution describes standing by the right as a great value with unpredictable results and this is quite evident in the attacks on the Islamic Republic and the sanctions that have been in place for four decades.

After patience, divine opening and the rain of mercy, the truth begins and the Islamic Revolution of Iran is a clear example of this, so that today, despite this revolution, Islam has become a major axis in the world and has been victorious in all conflicts.

Regarding the position of Muslims against this revolution, I must say that there is almost no Islamic country that has not been affected by this blessed revolution. This revolution made Muslims look at themselves again after centuries and realize that they have great power. Those who were even negatively affected today realized that there was a kind of Islamic awakening and were inspired by this revolution, which saw Islam as the solution to all the problems of the Islamic world.

Return to Pure Islam Main Message of Islamic Revolution: Nuajaba Chief

Q: What is the main reason for the pressures and sanctions of the Western powers, especially the United States, against the Islamic Revolution of Iran and how can Imam Khomeini’s ideas be used to stand against their arrogant dictatorships?

A: It is true that the enemies plot, but God Almighty also plots for them. Look at the result, sanctions and pressure have strengthened the Islamic Revolution and increased its ability to meet the challenges but they thought that this revolution would turn cold and weak over time and, like other revolutions, would lose its influence over others and busy itself with its internal affairs.

Meanwhile, the foundation of the late Imam and its strengthening by the Supreme Leader, made the flame of the revolution brighter and turned it into a stable, permanent and rooted method. This was achieved by adhering to the method adopted by Imam Khomeini. This method was based on believing in helping the oppressed all over the world and confronting arrogance anywhere in the world with all power and might. Imam declared this method obligatory on the Islamic Revolution.

Q: In conclusion, if you want to add a point and a message to this conversation, we will use your statements.

A: We thank God that we live in the great Islamic Revolution and we were among those who in our youth opened our eyes to see the great leader of this revolution, his Muhammadan thought, Alawi courage and his Husayni resistance. This period is the period of the victory of the Islamic Revolution and the transfer of the Muhammadan method to the whole world, and the enemies are declining in all areas, which shows that the Islamic Revolution is a movement to pave the way for the blessed emergence of the Imam of the Time [Imam al-Mahdi].
