Iran’s President Underlines Cooperation with Pakistan in Countering Terrorism, Islamophobia

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called for enhancement of cooperation with Pakistan in different fields, including confronting Islamophobia and terrorism.

 

In a Wednesday meeting in Tehran with Pakistani Foreign Affairs Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Rouhani said ensuring security and peace is both countries’ priority and boosting cooperation in this area is necessary.

He also said Tehran and Islamabad should play their role in helping the peace process in Afghanistan.

Referring to the US decision to withdraw its forces from Afghanistan, Rouhani said the US military presence in the region has been of no help to regional peace and security.

Qureshi, for is part, hailed the unique, valuable and brotherly ties between the two sides and called for promotion of relations in various fields.

He further expressed hope that the bilateral ties would soon enter a new phase with growing trade and economic interaction.
