Prophet’s Mosque Receives over 6 Million Visitors in a Week

IQNA – The Prophet’s Mosque in Medina, Saudi Arabia, hosted more than 6 million visitors in the past week, according to the General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque.

The authority said that it provided various services to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for the visitors, who came to perform prayers and pay their respects at the holy site, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday.

The authority’s statistics showed that 647,790 visitors went to the tomb of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), while 298,397 visitors prayed at Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifa, the area between the tomb and the pulpit. The authority said that it organized the entry and exit of visitors and allocated specific times for men and women to pray at Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifa.

The authority also said that 16,506 elderly and disabled visitors used electric carts to access the Prophet’s Mosque, and 114,532 visitors received guidance services to help them explore the exhibitions, museums, and other facilities. Moreover, 147,735 visitors used translation services, and 12,205 visitors accessed the Prophet's Mosque’s library.

The authority reported that 5,400 visitors went to the exhibitions and museums, and 30,140 visitors used the transportation services. The authority also distributed 146,429 gifts to the visitors, including copies of the Quran, umbrellas, prayer mats, incense burners, flowers and sweets.

In addition, the authority supplied 160,000 bottles of Zamzam water and 142,007 iftar meals to the visitors who fasted during the day.
