At the entrances to the Old City and Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Israeli occupation forces verified the identities of young men and prevented many of them from entering, the Islamic Awaqf Department said on Friday.
They also restricted the flow of thousands of worshipers from the West Bank into the mosque for Friday prayer, it added.
Despite the harsh restrictions, some 30,000 worshipers managed to perform Friday prayer at Islam's third holiest site.
The occupation regime increased restrictions in and around the mosque following the start of its genocidal war on the besieged Gaza Strip that has killed more than 33,000 Palestinians since October 7.
