IQNA – A Bissau-Guinean researcher says storytelling has been used in the Quran and can effectively spread Islamic teachings.

“The Holy Quran gracefully uses the stories of prophets to convey its divine messages, making storytelling a vital artistic medium for spreading its teachings,” Musa Debu, a researcher and Ph.D. candidate at Al Mustafa University told IQNA.

“I believe storytelling is particularly crucial in articulating the message of Islam through art since the Quran itself narrates various incidents, including the lives of prophets and events both joyous and tragic,” he said.

Dabu who says has committed the entire Quran to his memory, added “By retelling these Quranic stories, we can remind people of these lessons.”

He also highlighted the powerful influence that the stories of the lives of Ahl al-Bayt (AS) can have on individuals.

“Humanity cannot escape oppression and arrogance without reconnecting with the Quran,” he stressed, pointing to the importance of major Quranic events such as the Tehran International Quran Exhibition that held its 31st edition in the past weeks.

“To liberate people from tyranny and arrogance, as the Holy Prophet (PBUH) did, they must be guided back to the Quran,” he said, also quoting a Quranic verse: “And you were on the brink of a pit of Fire, whereat He saved you from it.” (Surah Al-Imran, verse 103).

The 31st edition of the Tehran International Holy Quran Exhibition came to a close on April 2 after two weeks. The international section featured representatives from 25 countries, showcasing their Quranic contributions.

The exhibition is annually organized by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in the holy month of Ramadan. It aims to promote Quranic concepts and develop Quranic activities.

The event showcases the latest Quranic achievements in the country as well as a variety of products dedicated to the promotion of the Holy Book.
