This is according to Sayyid Hassanayn Al-Halw, a prominent Iraqi qari and head of the Quranic Research Center of the shrine.

He made the statements in a meeting with the winners, organizers, and panel of arbiters of the competition in Karbala, Al-Kafeel news website reported.

He said that efforts will be made to have Egyptian, Iranian, and Iraqi winners of the competition attend Khatm Quran ceremonies in the shrine.

He said the contest was broadcast from 15 Iraqi and non-Iraqi TV channels.

The competition was held in the holy month of Ramadan as qaris from 21 countries took part in the event.
